Beginners • Re: Making noise from an ssh terminal

Its your windows machine making the noise in response to the ascii bell character, the Pi has no control over what happens.
Perhaps the question that I should have asked is of whether there are any other audio ASCII characters.
Not specified, the bell character is also the alerts character, but the client terminal could interpret a character as an alternative beep if it was set up that way, there were plenty of not-quite-standard uses of ascii codes in the past.

However most terminals aren't straight ascii, most of them are some form of ANSI. Ascii was for teletype/printing type devices so didn't have a clear screen, ANSI introduced escape codes to add functionality such as erase display. So there might be other sound codes, hopefully someone with a memory can answer that.
