That's the underlying issue; Linux isn't suitable for noobs and many home users and makers without deploying a kludge like passwordless 'sudo'. Without that people will just walk away or use 'root'.Passwordless sudo is evil. We likely have it because it was simpler than having to educate users new to both Pi and Linux (and coming from a windows background) about the whole Linux/Unix owner, group, and permissions system.
I am told there are ways to have more fine-grained security or protection which may be more appropriate but 'ain't nobody got time for that' if it's not pre-configured out of the box and easy to work with.
How one takes Linux, which is perfectly suited to multi-user use with admin and user tasks segregated, and turn it into an equally perfect system for use by single owner-users who wear both hats and want things simple and easy, I don't know.
Maybe it's the wrong tool for the job ?
