I had ssmtp working on Buster. I reimaged an RPI to Bookworm, installed ssmtp and mailutils and am using the exact same ssmtp.conf file. I have some scripts that send email using 'mail' and now they don't work - it just hangs sending mail. The same script works on the Buster RPI. I've tried this from ssh remotely and also terminal windows on the desktop and both hang. I've tried to send email direct from the terminal command line and that hangs too. I used to end the email witj cntl-d and I also tried a single dot - neither works.
Was there a change in behavior between Buster and Bookworm?
There is no /var/log/mail.log. There is a mymail.log and I'm not sure where that comes from. Something is updating about every 15 secods it with
date.. time.. : Error selecting mail folder :{select}
I haven't been able to find anything relavent (or that works) when searching for solutions.
