Right out of the box, I plugged into a screen I bought especialy for the raspi: called HyperPixel 4.O inch.
Then as it didn't work I plugged it in another screen and it would take 20 time to boot once and then it eventualy bugged.YES ! I do...A Pi400 (or 4/5) connected to a hdmi display with no sdcard inserted will display a diagnostic screen when powered on.
Do you see this screen and if so report the "display:" line.
I must apologise: This PI400 does boot on the screen when it has NO micro-sd in it.
Indeed it doesn't boot with HyperPixel 4.0inch and I hope I can learn to fix this.
The problem start with the system that was sent with the PI400: when inserted it doesn't book. Screen is black, but it's working as if I press some F2 or F3 I can see the display of a lot of computing lines. And eventualy it goes back to darkness.
I then figured out the system or the SDCard was corrupt so I made some verifications on the SdCard hardware itself and then reinstalled 32 and later the 64bits version with very little difference: a short COLOR display and it goes back to darkness.
