General discussion • Unable to boot from USB

Hi,
I am quite new to the topic of USB booting so if you are able to help me please don’t make it too complicated :)

When trying to boot from USB, I am unable to connect using ssh even though I activated it in the imager. The green indicator light keeps on blinking, and after a quick google search this apparently means that my pi 4 is trying to read files, but after 15 minutes of waiting it is clear that there’s some kind of read/write protection I am unable to remove. Here‘s exactly what I did:

I. Boot from Micro SD
2. Use GParted to remove all the partitions
3. Write the image
4. Use GParted again and check if the 2 partitions (dev/sda1 and dev/sda2) have been created
5. Access raspi-config
6. reset the boot loader and change the order to USB first
7. restart using

Code:

sudo reboot now
8. shutdown using the power button
9. remove the micro SD and plug my 1tb USB Stick into a USB 3.0 port (the blue one, right?)
10. Startup

But it just doesn’t seem to work. When booting from Micro SD and then plugging in my USB I am able to access rootfs, when trying to add a file to bootfs tho it gives me a read/write error even though the partition is not locked.

I am using the official power supply by raspberry and it is working fine.

Would really appreciate an answer :)
