I would look at that wireless mesh infrastructure of yours and see if special configuration is required to make mDNS work across cells

I have three setups, neither of them work well with mDNS. TPlinks problem. There are negligible setting available for anything
Only one of the two networks have mesh. Like @ebensimmo, I don't have any options for mDNS management.

Another quirk I just discovered was that while I was able to ping a host.local, Chrome could not find it until I left the browser sitting for 10 seconds then it found it. So some caching issue there.

I see there are a number of mDNS tools that I will explore. I think they will simply show when a host has a problem but worth checking https://www.google.com/search?q=mdns+ma ... e&ie=UTF-8
