If it helps anybody else:
The documentation for the Raspberry Audio Dac Pro https://www.raspberrypi.com/products/dac-pro/ states the following order for the P6 pins:
#1. Left
#2. Left ground
#3. Right
#4. Right ground
#5. Detect
I have hardwired 1, 2+4, 3 to a stereo TRS jack (1/4" 6,3 mm) but no sound is coming out in my headphones UNTIL I plug my other pair of headphones to the onboard (DAC PRO) headphones jack. That gives an indication that the Detect pin also needs to be connected but I cannot understand how/to where? I see that there is also a pin on row P1 for 'Headphone Detect', but I cannot find any information on how to use it.
Can anyone explain how the Detection pin should be wired?
It also helped to understand that the Pin #1 (P6) is marked with a square, and is the most right facing pin of the row.
From my initial experiment I have also wired the P1-pins as follows:
OV (Mono jack #1 ring)
L (Mono jack #1 tip)
OV (Mono jack #2 ring)
R (Mono jack #2 tip)
With this I can verify line out sound coming from the two individual jacks, but I haven't had a chance to hook it up to a stereo amplifier yet.
