Just a small update: I notice the pi4 already mounts to /boot/firmwareso I'm proceeding on the guess that only the manual edits are needed before installing the v8. boot currently contains those v8s may be from a prior update, but I did install it before editing anything and run apt purge, but those files remain in boot.
Code:
$ mount | grep boot/dev/mmcblk0p1 on /boot/firmware type vfat (rw,relatime,fmask=0022,dmask=0022,codepage=437,iocharset=ascii,shortname=mixed,errors=remount-ro)
Code:
$ ls /bootconfig-6.6.47+rpt-rpi-v8 overlaysfirmware System.map-6.6.47+rpt-rpi-v8initrd.img-6.6.47+rpt-rpi-v8 vmlinuz-6.6.47+rpt-rpi-v8
