Networking and servers • Re: Definitive Guide for Rpi 5 AP-STA mode?

Hi Folks,

I've been reading the Forum on the topic of configuring AP-STA mode. Most of these are older threads going over issues.

Is anyone aware of an actual Configuration Guide for Rpi 5 for configuring this mode?

My goal is to have the Rpi5 connecting to a WiFi network (for Rpi Connect access), then have a private network for connecting Rpi Picos. The networks don't even need to bridge or anything.

I've tried reading up on, it but really don't get the networking stuff. I'm much more of a "connect sensors to microcontrollers" person. Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.
:-)

Any pointers would be very much appreciated.

Regards ~ Mark

Is AP-STA mode a feature of the 3rd-party RaspAP package?

The Disclaimer on the related webpage may be instructive. https://docs.raspap.com/ap-sta/

In general, your RPi[5] board will require that you run the current RasPiOS Bookworm release.

And Bookworm brought with it major changes to Network Configuration compared to its predecessors.

So any discussion of solutions not taking that into account may be outdated/wrong/misleading.

Maybe you simply need an Access Point, as in the official Documentation?
