That strip in the second picture doesn't look like WS2812/NeoPixel LEDs. The external controller chip per LED, plus the 12 V power pad, aren't like anything I've used recently.This is my wiring: Is my wiring wrong?
If your strip really needs 12 V, typical NeoPixel instructions won't work.
