I haven't looked at the Windows hardware platform area since Windows NT, but way back then it was possible for us hardware vendors to deliver vendor-specific hardware platform support, implemented via the HAL.

We had different HALs for every hardware "box" we supported, and we supported a LOT of them, and the hw teams had a prepared justification list: "we changed all this stuff because..." :lol:

Seems highly unlikely to me that MSFT would have removed that capability, although stranger things have happened :roll:

If platform-specific HAL capabilities are still supported in Windows in some manner, then it's quite likely that the latest Pis are already compatible with Windows. The only thing missing is the platform-specific HAL for the Pi.

MSFT worked with several of us system vendors back in the good old days. No insight into how they perceive all this today. Just drove by there this morning, I should have stopped and ask them :lol:
