You couldn't print a decent Mona Lisa using over strike on the 3800 (IBM's first laser printer). You could on the 1403.I once had the problem of getting programmers to use an alternate printer. It was a case of switching from an IBM 1403N1 to an IBM 3800. Granted, once any individual tried out the 3800, they loved it and kept using it, but getting some of them to even try it was...difficult.It's akin to trying to get a programmer to use an alternative programming language to what they favour. It doesn't matter that they could use the alternative; it's usually that they don't want to.
