I have an E-stop button to halt motion and will eventually kill the spindle too (already wired, just not set up in software). The display is mostly for monitoring and initial setup so it is not safety critical. The potential saftety issue is when I jog the spindle around, the VPN seems to cause a delay in the motion. It starts immediately but acts as though I have short tapped the jog button or held it for around 1 second. As a result, the spindle moves between 0.1" and 1" depending on how it feels. This is when using a physical keyboard/mouse combo (it's wireless but it's USB into the RPi and has not been an issue) and simply displaying on the tablet via VNC. If I perform the same operation but have the tablet turned off and the HDMI connected the spindle moves precisely as desired. The issue seems to be the VNC is somehow causing a delay in the system responding to mouse clicks which does not happen when the tablet is not used. If there is a way to tune this so it doesn't interfere that would be great. I don't really understand what is happening so I'm at a loss to fix it. Why would having a VPN connection to the RPi cause the keyboard/mouse to not function reliably?
