So you are on TED, a link perhaps to a suitable talk?
No, I'm not. I was being slightly facetious. After writing a long and detailed response on a very dry topic I thought I'd add a little levity.

I'll reiterate, home automation still hasn't really taken off, and takes a lot of time, energy, and patience to tailor it to your situation. Start small and add things. Expect some things not to work. Expect some things to stop working (because the vendor stopped supporting it). Basically, expect it to be awful, but be pleasantly surprised when it works.

Also, don't use AI to answer questions like this (or anything, actually). They are quite often confidently wrong.
