Lol about the "eyeball Mark I", that was a hoot. But your suggestion was certainly worth doing, so I just dumped a lot of fluff on a USB and just bit the bullet. Since the 64 was the original chip I built the 128 off of anyway, it had all the some proggies and most of the same data, so no big deal, So, mixed emotions...the "new" system works just fine, but we kinda sidestepped the problem getting there. Still, it WORKS and that's the best outcome. *^_^* Who knows...maybe someone else will have a "Freetube plays for a few seconds and then stops and goes blank" and I'll learn how to fix it then.
So, thanks for the feedback. I honestly wouldn't have thought about doing that since I come from the era of cracking Amiga disk protection by raw copy, and 880k meant 880k whether it was all used or not. Somehow I thought the same thing applied to SD chips. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
