Beta testing • Re: Updating to trixie

OK, after messing around with Trixie for a bit and installing some common apps that I've installed many times before, I rebooted and was greeted with a login screen. On entering the correct username and password, I can't log in. The error message is 'failed to start session' or something similar. CTL+ALT+F1 got me to the terminal, where I tried installing raspberrypi-ui-mods (yes, I know this app is not part of the Trixie beta) and then executing 'startx'. Now I have a different desktop manager that I don't want. and rebooting still won't let me log in. I'm going to re-install from scratch because I'm not sure how to proceed here.
You didn't get the latest version of raspi-config installed before the update. This is why the first step was to do a full update to your bookworm system - either you forgot to do this, or it failed for some reason.

When you are prompted for password to login, hit Ctrl-Alt-F1 to access a TTY, and log in if necessary. Do a sudo apt install raspi-config. Then do sudo raspi-config and choose Advanced Options, Wayland, and then select labwc. Reboot; your sessions should then all be updated for trixie.
