Yep, exactly that. But if you don't do that how can anyone insist the retail price of a Pi 5B 16GB is $120 USD everywhere ?If Pi pricing in the UK was directly coupled to the £-$ exchange rate then it would be quite chaotic and difficult to manage for the retailer.
To have a steady price then there would need to be a certain amount of headroom to absorb fluctuations, which might possibly go either way.
The only thing one can say is "the retail price of a Pi 5B 16GB is $120 USD for someone buying in America or where local price elsewhere tracks the exchange rate".
If you buy a book it will often have multiple local currency prices printed upon it, very often something like; £10, $10, €10.
That inevitably attracts complaints that pricing doesn't take into account exchange rates, that a publisher is ripping some people off, but at least you know how much you will pay for that book before you walk into the shop to buy it, what you will have to pay at the till.
When it's only priced in $ USD most people won't know. And that's why the UK government has long recommended not doing that.
Out of interest, does anyone know what the price in GBP is for a Pi 5 16GB sold in Raspberry Pi's Cambridge Store ?
And, an inevitable bonus question, what USD value that price excluding VAT is equivalent to ?
