For redvli I found it a little amusing that you pointed to the locked session that has a posting from me on how to, step by step, make a Pi Router. This is the issue that I am referring to in my original post. It doesn't work that way any more. A little of my background was left out. When I said "old fashioned" it included doing many iterations of Linux From Scratch (since very early publications, like before the X-Window extensions and BLFS). Safe to say, I know my way around much of the internals of Linux. My professional career was with embedded systems (since before Tyler Sperry coined the name). Video games on 8-bit systems through control systems with multi-core processors. You were very gracious in your response, and I am most pleased that you didn't use the word that sets me on edge "just".

I haven't looked into using systemd-networkd that was suggested by bls which might be the solution that I will have to use. I was hoping to get some insight from people at the developers level to describe which files are being updated by nmtui, so I can do things "on the fly" with my own methods.

Thank you to the whole community,
Jack
