Maybe write the Raspberry Pi OS to the microSD card using Imager, but use the “OS Customisation” settings in Imager to set your username, password, WiFi SSID and password, country etc. and enable SSH. Boot that and wait 10 minutes. Then you can connect to the zero (by its ip address) using SSH via PuTTY (or similar) on your PC/laptop (or phone) and login without using the hub keyboard/mouse.
