Troubleshooting • Re: Stability issues with the Pi Zero 2W

We're at several different power supplies over 4 boards, it's not power. No other SBC we've tried has this issue just the 2W. The exact same system we've been using with the Zero W has runtimes of 6+ months, and that's only because power reliability is awful in the area.

This issue can be demonstrated by dropping your Wifi power and placing the 2W at the other end of a house.

Expected: Poor Wifi speed, but otherwise 'on-board' performance isn't affected.

Seen: Poor Wifi speed, but also choppy on-board video recording, hard disconnects, frequent lock-ups at stock clocks. Adding a fan reduces it but nothing specific is close to overheating.

The 4.5a is just what the Pi takes when it locks-up, this is just (roughly) what Pis need access to to be stable. It is fed though both +5v pins and all grounds evenly. Any other supply just goes into over-current, this PS doesn't have that.

We have several genuine mean-well and calex power supplies we can try if this is truly necessary. At this point I just don't think buying a Raspberry power pack is gonna help, if it really needs that specific of a PS then it's probably not gonna work for us.
