Networking and servers • Open Media Vault on RPI4b 8gb

so I'm trying to set up a server on a raspberry pi 4b with 8gb of RAM. For some reason it does not allow me to connect to it after doing the following steps:

1) image the micro sd card to raspberru pi OS lite (32 bit)
2) turn on the pi with the sd card in it, and plug in a monitor, and a keyboard.
3) run the following code sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
4) after that I ran the following code sudo wget -O - https:// github.com/OpenMediaVault-Plugin-Developers/installScript/raw/master/install | sudo bash
now this is the part that I have problems with, because after installing open media vault it doesnt allow me to connect to the pi from my pc. also after the installation the pi doesn't have a viable ip address that I can use so I can connect to it via an internet browser.

I am unable to install open media vault by connecting the pi to my pc, since after a while the pi disconnects.

I am also trying to use an external hard drive, and have no idea how to integrate that into the system.

what do I do?
