General discussion • Re: Raspberry Pi 2 Model B v1.3

I do find this thread most bizarre. The Pi 2 is sold as a 32bit device because that is what it was launched as. Because the original SoC is no longer available, we've replaced it with a similar chip of the same or better specification. The fact it can run in 64bit mode is irrelevant. If you want a 64bit device then the Pi3 is what you should be getting - that was launched as a 64 capable device. IIRC its the same price. (Or even the Zero 2W, same SoC)

Whilst I am surprised there are still BRCM2836 devices still in the supply chain, the product change note does say that they will be a transition period whilst both models are available. That transition period is undefined because it's not predictable.
Well no, that's what we, as consumers, are confused about. If I want to order a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B, and I check the website, I get information about all available revisions, and that what I should be getting is specifically the revision 1.3. If I then check the official documentation, it will certainly list those features as available for revision 1.2 onward (including USB/netboot, 64 bit support, and the like). So no, it's not just being sold as 32 bit device, and those features aren't just available for Pi 3 and higher looking at official documentation, making it relevant.

Argument aside why we should be getting a Pi 3, or another SBC for what we're trying to use it for, the frustration is that it's just impossible to actually get a Pi 2 revision 1.2 or higher. And don't get me wrong, I get the take from Raspberry Pi Ltd, and the explanations given about business customers, but as a consumer it's just annoying to not be able to get one.
Anyone willing to take a chance at Digikey?
As stated earlier, if you were getting a revision 1.1 (which you unfortunately did), I'd be willing to take a shot at Digikey. I just ordered one and will let you know what revision I'm getting.

And P.S., I did return my revision 1.1 from Reichelt several months ago with the explanation that it wasn't the 1.2 revision as stated on the website. Returning it was no problem.
