Maybe use VS Code with Remote-SSH Extension with a 2GB Pi4 as the target, then copy the executable to the pizero2w and run it?
e.g. hello world compiled on the Pi4 and moved to a pizero2w worked OK (hello: ELF 64-bit LSB pie executable, ARM aarch64, ... )
