I've looked at the Documentation site, where it says "Your Raspberry Pi automatically boots from the microSD slot when the slot contains a card."
My 5 does not have a microSD card in its port. (I know this sounds clueless, as the machine ran flawlessly until I gummed things up. I can only assume that in my post-crash panic, I put the original card aside and then misplaced it.)
So I have an empty port, and will have a new card with the Pi OS on it. Hence my hope that booting from the new card will run a boot sequence.
Does that make sense?
