Have you checked which version of rdesktop you have on each system? Sometimes Debian lags behind Ubuntu in the package versions.I am already using X11. it's working a little bit better...but still is very slow.
Just to clarify (english is not my native language)...I want to use RPI5 as my main desktop. And I need to connect to some virtual machines with Windows XP, Windows 7 and 10. If I am connecting for any other system that I have (Odroid N2, AMD x64, laptop with intel cpu)...remote desktop is working perfectly. Only from RPI 5 with bookworm is working very very slow (almost unusable). Virtual machines are in the same network with RPI5
In the past I've had better luck with xfreerdp but had to compile a recent version myself.
Another possibility is you have a faulty network cable connected to the Pi.
