Thanks for the info! I'm mainly posting this so that if anyone else has any focus issues, they know to check the IR filter.
It's also a bit odd that it came new like this. I'm inclined to think this may have been a bad batch, as I bought it within a year of its release, and it had this issue straight out of the box. Looking back, I should've RMA'd it, but I really just thought it was a user error on my part, not focusing on it properly.
I don't remember how it was originally packaged, whether it was air-tight sealed. But it seems like it should be.
