Sorry, we know very little about mpv, and would not want to take on a downstream patch, that is likely to cause a significant maintenance headache as upstream changes cause conflicts with the patch.
Plus any bug reported by our version of mpv is likely to be ignored by the mpv maintainers, due to the downstream changes.
If you think this is a useful feature, why not try to get it merged into the mpv tree? That is the right place for any new mpv feature.
