My method.
Always use RaspberryPi OS to start with as mentioned.

Use a uSD first to check it work,
This will also update your bootloader* and you would get the install over a network screen like the Pi4, not that you actually need it, but it may have NMVE improvements
You can even use your Pi4 PSU if they are the official ones.
(*At least after an OS update and boot two, I can't remember if you need to tell it to still using raspi-config. )

Once you know that is working, then use the new PSU, check it works.

You may need to add something to use all 5A of you Amazon PSU, but now you'll know. Though I think your RasTech is a 3rd part Pi5 PSU so shouldn't need it (PD 5.1V5A)

Once that is working, move the the NVME and you know the setup now.
Check it works.

Then worry about Kali etc.
