That comes from the Raspberry Pi repo maintained by Raspberry Pi Ltd. It is based on a recent standard Linux kernel (usually slightly ahead of Debian), with some Raspberry Pi specific patches added. Security patches are added quickly when they are needed.Ok, but what about the Pi OS specific components, such as ... the kernel ?
The number of extra patches has been decreasing as the Pi specific drivers are accepted into the standard kernel. The number of changes has gone up recently because of the extra drivers needed for the Pi5, but that will go down again as those are added to the base.
