Firefox is slow on some sites. For example, at Ars Technica. Go to the site and move your mouse quickly on the page and both the CPU and GPU load go up quite a bit. Chromium is much faster. It's a shame because I like Firefox better and have been running it since it came out in beta 100 years ago.Firefox runs very bad with its default config. I struggled to find a solution a lot. I confused and thought maybe i needed to install a package etc... I am using GNOME desktop with wayland. I though it may be the cause and tried the default and supported DE of Rpi. With all the default settings It was the same. In the end I had to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox settings. And this way it is usable.
So, i think hardware acceleration should be disabled by default for the users sake, because users will think Firefox doesn't work smooth on Pi and switch to Chromium.
