Later testing: neither capture_circular.py nor capture_circular_stream.py record anything much in the h264 file (we expect 5 seconds of video but seems to be one frame?) and capture_circular_stream.py stream output in VLC is blank (on PC and on a nreaby Pi4) and remains blank when motion occurs.
That is using a V3 camera module on a Pi5 running Bookworm 64-bit with desktop.
capture_circular_stream.py was working for me with a v2 camera on a Pi3 in February 2024 with VLC on a Win 10 laptop....
Futher investigation needed...
