Raspberry Pi Desktop for PC and Mac • Re: Need larger fonts

you don't have to do anything, i was just throwing thoughts out.

you should just keep what you have, maybe when you do your next setup you'll have to deal with it.
i'm pretty sure icewm has already switched to zutty, so it'll be there on a clean install.

debian has been busy updating defaults and zutty is the new x-terminal-emulator so where terminal is not specified zutty gets installed.

i remember it being in xfce to when i last played with it, not sure about gnome and kde.
Not sure what you mean about zutty being there on a clean install with icewm. I build up from Lite and at least on bookworm, icewm doesn't force zutty to be installed. Maybe coming next time around. I don't really care what icewm adopts, I configure my own menus (such as they are).

I just spent some "quality time" with zutty. It's nice but didn't blow my socks off. The font handling is weird and doesn't seem to completely match the docs, and most definitely does not match "standard" X11 font handling. I had to use 9x15B instead of 9x15bold, which works elsewhere. Also, was not able to use the -x-x-x-etc long font names successfully. Don't get me wrong, i don't think X11 font handling is awesome, but consistency is good.

Lastly, I know that I don't have to do anything, but I'm always interested in worthwhile improvements, especially those that simplify things for me, or are noticeable faster/better. Eye candy doesn't do much for me (which you might guess since I'm using icewm...with the boring Motif theme Image may be NSFW.
