I don't know where the DHCP server is. The switch was supplied by my fibre supplier. I could probably try to figure out the DHCP server. The RPi is still running fine and available from wifi when the Ethernet interface is down, so I can collect any data available in this state.Is the dhcp server for your LAN closely-coupled with the Ethernet switch?
Might it be that the IP address lease from the dhcp server is expiring and that is being communicated to the switch so that the address becomes marked as invalid in the arp table?
If the DHCP lease runs out, should it not be renewed when nmcli cycles the interface down/up?
