Update: with the disk image they supply, I got it to work.
Sadly, the advertised 25 fps frame rate is strongly overhyped.
Maybe it can update the frame 25 times per second - but it cannot update the pixels. At least without cooling of the sensor aray, the period during which after-image persists on the microbolometer pixels seems closer to a full second - I can flip the camera 90 degrees and still see my face on the screen.
It cannot work as a scanning camera. Image may be NSFW.
