Which means the Pi5 is useless (to me), since everything I do (on Pis) is based around omxplayer. And, no, VLC ain't no alternative.Pretty sure omxplayer won’t work...
Anyway, somebody ought to try running the thingie from RonR that updates the firmware on earlier PiOS builds (e.g., Buster), so that they can be booted on the Pi5. Then, booting that will tell you whether or not omxplayer can or can not be run on the Pi5.
I can't do this experiment, of course. Someone else will have to do it.
