Hi there,
My son and I are new to the Raspberry Pi world and we are off to a rocky start.
We accidentally broke the 'fan connector' (not sure what the proper name is) on the Raspberry Pi 5 board so now we can't connect the fan. Not sure if anyone has any suggestions on how (or even if it's possible) to fix this but I figured I'd reach out and check. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
You have had some helpful - but 'advanced' - suggestions about fixing that fan connector.
My suggestion is different.
Don't bother.
A fan is not mandatory. Your RPi[5] can run well and safely without one.
(If you were an 'advanced' user who planned to impose a heavy load on the cpu then the automatic 'throttling' that the hardware imposes to prevent damage by overheating might impact on the performance you were hoping for. But as new users your demand on the system will probably be trivial and you won't create the conditions for that loss of performance. The system will look after itself and overheating will not occur.)
