The HamClock app runs under X, though. I've always liked the simple Geochron-style display, but most installations I've seen get deep into the the too-many-busy-displays for me.And as it is a pi zero W, I would put the LITE (no desktop) version on it i.e. Raspberry Pi OS (Legacy, 32-bit) Lite “Bullseye”.
I don't know how well those instructions have aged, though. If it's anything like the pi-star project: very, very badly is an underestimate.
