It perhaps doesn't but for me - and perhaps the OP - it's that what worked on the RP2040 / Pico would be expected to work on an RP235X / Pico 2 without needing to refactor code or rework algorithms.I don't know why that resistive touchscreen must have a pull down on one of the pins ...
It would be a reasonably expectation that a Pico 2 would be a drop-in replacement for a Pico; recompile the code, upload the UF2, job done, same results as previously.
And, when using MicroPython, equally reasonable to expect MicroPython on both to run the code in the same way.
That is however an unrealistic expectation given RP2350-E9 if that bites.
In this case I'd have thought the OP should be able to rewrite their code so it works on an RP235X / Pico 2 and also works on an RP2040 / Pico. And, if that's what's required, that's what they will have to do.
