I like the preciseness of the previous answer... however, I do like doing things the easy way when I can get away with it...

pi-apps has several versions of minecraft available...

The one that I use is the "gdlauncher", it has worked well for me... (beware though that the very latest versions of minecraft won't launch because of a java version conflict... (I guess 17 isn't good enough anymore which is a little insane)...

I also just checked, and there's an explicit entry for the minecraft server using pi-apps... here are all the options I see from pi-apps..

Minecraft Bedrock
Minecraft Java GDLauncher
Minecraft Java Prism Launcher
Minecraft Java Server
Minecraft Pi (Modded)

of all of the ones listed above, GDLauncher is the one I've tried and use, but I'm guessing all the other options basically work as advertised as well.

Pi-apps can be found at this link... (or with a google search)... https://pi-apps.io/

good luck :)

Edit: one last thing... minecraft can be a bit memory hungry... I've been running on pi 4's and 5's now for the longest, so the pi's I run all easily have enough memory to cope... a pi3 has 1gig if memory serves... that's probably right on the edge of being able to run minecraft (maybe the server requires less memory resources (not sure)). I thought I would mention it... this is one application that I think would benefit from a pi that has more ram resources, (but sometimes you use what you have at hand :))
