I don't know exactly what it is, but something strange is going on in the system (rpi5/8+rpi27W+Hailo8+PimoroniDuoNVMe+NVMe-SSD+USBSSD) with the 6.12.20/21 kernel. The system was unexplainably slow and cumbersome (in comparison to 6.6) and aside from the dmesg flooding with 'mempolicy: Request to set policy to ...' and the problems with the Hailo coprocessor's failures and dmesg-flooding...

Something is seriously wrong with / in relation to the i2c bus.
I had (aside from the aforementioned issue) massive problems with the i2c-1 controller, timeouts and total collapse of i2c communication. At first I thought it was a self-made problem (short circuit or lack of power), because I connected various i2c sensors and LCD displays to the Hailo copro and CPU temperature monitoring and load monitoring as well as several AS5600 with TCA9548A multiplexers and motor driver stages.
Even going so far that despite reboot, the i2c-1 did not work anymore. Only after complete shutdown (power off) could I access it rudimentarily again.

But all of this works perfectly fine now, (like it was months long before) it was due to the kernel.
And since I was able to switch back to 6.6 thanks to OpiZA, it's clear now: everything works "snappy" fast with low latency and low CPU load.
