Any chance the firmware could get a "fixup this device tree" call that could be used by U-Boot (or some other secondary boot loader) to have a device tree loaded from somewhere else processed?Why don't you use the DTB the firmware prepares? That's the recommended way of using U-boot on a Raspberry Pi.
