First time poster in the Forum plus my knowledge of the Raspberry 5 is from reading other’ experiences. Needless to say I am as green as they come and am a stroke survivor so my understanding of the ‘in’s-n-outs’ of setting up and programming the Rpi is restricted. From what I have read so far is to get all the information gathered and to list what I have before asking what my question(s) will be:
1) I am using the Raspberry Pi 5 w/ 8 GB,
2) Raspberry Pi 5 Model B Rev 1
3) Linux Version 6.12.25+rpt-rpi-2712 {serge@raspberrypi.com} {aarch64-linux-gnu-gcc-12 [Debian
12.2.0-14] 12.2.0, GNU Binutils for Debian] 2.40} #1 SMP PREEMPT Debian 1:6.12.25-1+rpt1
{2025-04-30}
4) total used free shared buff/cache available
Mem: 2.7Gi 275Mi 1.4Gi 16Mi 1.0Mi 2.3Gi
Swap: 71Mi 0B 69Mi
5) GeeekPi N07 MiniTower NVMe NAS Kit for Raspberry Pi 5, Supports M.2 NVMe SSD
2230/2242/2260/2280
6) Crucial P310 500GB 2280 PCIe Gen4 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD
I am wanting to set up a NAS in order to host my PC and to centralize my PICs, pertinent info, etc. Plus I just want to see what can be done with the Pi, it has piqued my interest. Since my ‘accident’ in 2020, my reasoning, memory, understanding is delayed/absent in daily use so please, understand my responses will be slower and basic reading has in some part, affected.
Now, my question(s),
I wish to install, which I did, OpenMediaVault. Read that it is one most people use when wishing to set up for a NAS. Problem: Installed the ‘Lite’ version but unable to open ‘Chromium’ so I can start configuring to use. I don’t know/understand what I need to do or what to rectify my dilemma. I’ve read several forums, mainly this one, but getting frustrated is of no use to me so I will shelve the Pi for a few days. Would it be wise for me to completely erase everything (the NVMe, flash chip), again x-10? Would that itself cause residual ‘blips’ to hamper re-installing?
At this time in my life, it’s like I need ‘Step-by-Step’ instructions in ‘layman’s’ terms so I can understand what I need to do. As I said earlier, somewhere in this msg, I want to install OpenMediaVault Lite version on my NVMe and get Chromium up and running.
If someone would be so kind to help me with my predicament, I would be most grateful.

I know there are posts on the same subject but I get lost trying to track down the answers I am looking for and again, frustration hits. I do apologize.
