Use the command iwconfig to check the signal strength for rx at the Pi, try it in situ with and without the Argon case. If you have a WiFi AP with the ability to give you signal information then this is useful too.
I have found that with an interference by other devices around the vicinity (not necessarily WiFi frequency) can upset the Pi WiFi.
Try 2.4GHz and 5GHz separately. Try selecting different channels. Try switching off other devices in the vicinity.
I have a full AMD64 PC with external antennas (2 of them) and the WiFi performance is extremely sensitive to the position of these antennas. Sometimes a movement of 2cm changes the the bit rate fro a dribble to something close to the full performance available.
