Yeah one expander is probably plenty for this project. But it was a pain routing things to it, if i would have put one on each side of the board may have been easier making the connections...
I already ordered PCB's so we will see how this works. It costs me $4 to order 5 boards on JLPCB... I may have messed up by not adding pullups on some of my connections to the LoRa module, but we will see... could add some jumpers TH resistors if thats an issue.
In the future i will put spots for pullups or capacitors anywhere they might be needed. Then in case it doesn't need them just don't install. Ive seen this on many consumer wlectronic boards and wondered why there were so many empty pads for parts, i imagine its redundancy for something like that.
