Well, I have to get lucky sooner or later, I guessing my masking is working at 100%.gavin... THANK YOU for a normal and practical response.
I don't have a Pi5 yet so I cannot try, but in theory it should be possible to emulate a game OS with graphics.Running a VM... I have no knowledge or experience with this or those programs you mention
Theory means nothing until someone figures it out or tries it.
Example - will games run on Kosta's Android for Pi5?
The Pi5 ecosystem is still in early stages, lots got messed up dropping x11 desktop for Wayfire etc.
OpenGL is being phased out with Vulkan as it should be faster and those that knew how to bug fix the mess that is OpenGL are retiring etc.
But that means those old 32bit OpenGL/ES games will fall through the cracks as well.
Pi5 in 32bit OS with OpenGL x11 Desktop is probably the best way to get most of the old games running, .... at the moment.
A lot of times most of us don't know what will work until we try it.
The big problem now is the Pi5 is so capable and but also more complex.
There is good news, the Pi5 software is almost all mainstream Linux now and Arm based computers are growing in number.
However that means they are in the hands of those same nerds, myself included er when I get a Pi5:lol:
Good news is those Nerds have neurological brain wiring that is great for problem solving, but most, myself included have communications issues.
I have waited years, since Pi3 days for Vulkan support, but I only use it for playing Warzone2100 now.
I did learn how to compile WZ2100 all myself, but in the end I needed to wait for better coding nerds to get the GPU drivers going.
It can take years so patience is required.
Best to watch for those who figure it out and show us less enabled the path through the jungle that is SBC/Software.
YT seems to be getting better for showing off Pi5 stuff, that is where I went once Pi5 was out.
They are a few good YTbers showing off what works, in superficial 15min vid way, with luck there are links to the nerd stuff.
Hmm, I wonder how good Docker is on Pi5?
