With that, any unknown Samba users should be able to connect to the share, provided they are not Windows pro users (they have guest access turned off by default).
Has that changed again? Last time I had to look into it WIndows Home users could enabled it via control panel but Pro and above couldn't enable it at all. I've no idea abour Windows S.

Regardless of where you put the shared directory you'll need to make sure permissions on theser's fiel system are set connectly for both it and its parents. Samba cannot grant clients permissions that the OS does not grant to it. For guest access Smaba defaults to using the Linux user nobody and group nogtoup.
You'll probably also find that network browsing won't work unless you install wsdd on the server.
