Thank you for all the help I've hopefully successfully replaced the RP2040 chip.
I used a ton of tape and some foil for good measure
The chip was free ready to put in the replacement
After too many attempts I manage to get the chip on straight!
Was this easy? No it took me hours to get it working. I had to go in with my iron and redo the pins several times to get bridges and then bad connections fixed. It was working and then it stopped that was frustrating.
At one point the dmesg was just printing
A few more passes with iron and some fresh solder and it seems to be working!
A microscope is something I wish I had for this the cell phone camera is a poor substitute.
This wasn't beginner friendly the chip was very close to tiny passives and I was afraid I'd blow them off with the hot air or knock them with the iron, as it was I did bump them and leave a nice mess of solder to clean away. And placing the chip the first time trying to hold the air and pick up the chip it would have been funny to watch.
