Ubuntu • Re: Booting an older Ubuntu version on Raspberry Pi 5

The decision to not support the current Ubuntu LTS 22.04 version was a surprising and poor one... Image may be NSFW.

:(

By so far installing the kernel from 23.10 (6.5) to 22.04 aarch64 and making a small change to the /firmware/boot/config.txt to "not check os" I have been able to boot the Pi5 with 22.04. I have to disable the vc kms graphics to get into the GDM3 desktop though.

This took roughly 20 mins to accomplish. Is there perhaps any suggestions in regards to I assume the graphics driver/mesa/gdm3 that may allow the ability to utilize the graphics properly in 22.04?

Is the heavy lift in officially supporting the Pi5 in 22.04 a kernel/graphics issue?
@awdmesh Do you mind sharing some instructions?

I'm only interested in the server version (no GUI).
