Oh, nice, I see sparkfun sells W5500-EVB-Pico for $12.50 which is only slightly more expensive than just wiring those two together.
However I am still wondering whether for two ethernet sockets something completely different is not a better choice - like some small openwrt based router or even raspberry pi with second ethernet over usb. Doing some kind of router with Pico feels complicated. Or why not to plug those two things into normal router and then communicate with both over wi-fi (or one ethernet if wireless is not an option)
